Action Required!

“Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.”~ Jack Canfield

You must take action to get it!

The big question I am posing today is simple. Are you now MOVING in the direction of your dreams? And what are your goals and dreams for 2009? Have you taken the time to sit down and write down your goals?

Are you LIVING your MISSION?

If not, why not?

Is FEAR holding you back from taking bold ACTION?

Today, I want you to think about how often you seize the day to make your life work on the level which you desire. How often do you actually “carpe those diems”?!

Again I ask; what actions will you take to move your # 1 goal closer to completion in 2009!

New Beginnings

Posted in life coach for women tagged , , , , , , at 1:14 pm by Sandra Hersey

At this time of the year everyone is excited about new beginnings. Things are new and are exciting. As a child I remember a box of fresh new crayons were so much better than the old broken pieces I was using. That particular smell of the newness will instantly bring back wonderful childhood memories. Then as an adult the smell of a new car is something wonderful and as a woman who absolutely loves shoes a new pair of shoes will bring a leap into my heart every time; the way I feel as I put the shoes on my feet for the first time and admire myself in the mirror like a little girl with a new frilly dress. (Come on ladies you know how that feels you do it too!)

God gives us new beginnings as well. No matter what time of the day, week, month, or year it is, our Heavenly Father brings newness into our lives with only the asking. Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” I love how He is so gracious and loving to us that He gives us new mercies EVERY morning! Girls that is better than getting a new pair of shoes every morning!!

As we start out the New Year we automatically set our minds on the new and improved; the hope and anticipation of what lies ahead. As a Christian Life Coach for Women, I talk about setting goals and writing them down. And today I want to give you a few thoughts to think about as you sit down to write your goals. Our number one goal should be to glorify God in every part of our lives. Here is a check list to help you before you set up your goals for the coming year:

Are you spending time alone with God each and every day to know His will for you that day?

Are you reading and searching His Word to find answers to the situations you are facing?

When God gives you a task to complete are you seeking Him daily for guidance on how He would have you complete it?

Are your motives for this goal a true reflection of your Father?

The last point I want you to pay particular attention to. So many times when we receive a Word of Prophesy or revelation from God we are ready to run out and tackle the world. But we must spend time fasting and in prayer so we know His perfect timing. Just because God has given you a glimpse into His will for you, does not mean He says “on your mark, get set, GO!” No, He is saying spend time with me, read my Word; they are my instructions for you, ask me what I want, and then allow me to show myself strong in your life and in others.

A very important point to remember is He is never doing something just for you and I alone. He is always using us to do His will for someone else at the same time.

So as we prepare to take on a new day, or even a new year, let’s set the most important goal of putting our Heavenly Father first in our lives and find out what He wants us doing for Him in 2009!

And as a side note ladies if you have not joined up with bestselling author Donna Partow in her 90 Day Jumpstart for becoming a Proverbs 31 Woman. Do that now. Your Gift For You This Christmas

Posted in life coach for women tagged , , , at 12:59 pm by Sandra Hersey

One of the biggest problems I see people face (especially women) is not thinking well of themselves; and loving themselves is even harder. However, God wants us to love ourselves and the Word tells us it is His desire for us to love ourselves.

Matthew 19:19 tells us to love our neighbors AS ourselves. Now if we are to love them AS we love ourselves then God must want us to love ourselves. He must want us to think highly of ourselves. (Do not confuse thinking highly with being proud, arrogant, or haughty) God wants us to love things about us, and as women that is hard to do because we focus on what we do not like. We do not like our hair, or our hips, or our nose, and we fixate our minds on what we do not like; instead of looking inside as our Father does and focus on the real us, not the outside shell we live in, but our inside self – who we really are!

The bible talks about love and walking in love and this applies to us; not just to others. As we learn to walk in love with others we will feel better about ourselves too. We must learn to accept who we are, and the parts we don’t like, we give them over to God and allow Him to lead us and perfect in us what we cannot.

The more time we spend with God and realizing His love for us, the more we will spread that love to others and even to ourselves.

As a gift to yourself this Christmas why not focus on how great you really are. Not what you look like but who you really are. Focus on how much your Heavenly Father loves you. Focus on how much others love you.

God wants you to remove all of the thoughts you have about yourself which do not line up with His Word. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)! You are the best present you can give to your Father in Heaven, you are the best present you can give to someone else, and you ARE the best present you can give yourself this Christmas Season!

Welcome to my home! This is where all the hustle and bustle happens!  Can I offer you some eggnog?

dsc01802

I have a total of 7 trees this year! They are all themed; and my goal is to have one in every room of my house! Who am I kidding I do have one in everyroom of my house!!

My Santa Tree is decked out with only Santa ornaments and Santa ribbon with different Santa’s under the tree! It has always been a tradition of my mom to give us each an ornament every year. Eventually I had enough Santa ornaments to give them their very own tree!

dsc01783

Our Candle Tree is our “Memory Tree” of dated ornaments given to our family over the years. I love the old fashioned candles on the tree. Making this one of my favorites.

dsc01787dsc01785

This is my Red Cardinal Tree in loving memory of my late grandmother who loves the color red and loved the Red Bird from her state NC! I enjoy thinking of her each year as I decorate it in honor of her.

dsc01819dsc018111

My chandelier over my kitchen table! This was new for me this year. Got the idea from HGTV so I thought why not try. It took me 7 days to decorate this year, and the problem is I can decorate every day right until Christmas if I don’t stop!!!!

Hello and Happy Friday to you! I have not posted a video on the blog in a long time so today I thought I would share one with you.

As I watched this video which was passed on to me by a dear friend and reader, I was in tears.

We ALL face trials and tribulations. 1 Peter 1: 6-7 tells us to count it all joy when we face trials. It is those trials that will perfect our faith.

What I want us to realize in watching this amazing video; is that our life may seem as if it is not where we want it to be. We may be going through some tough things. However, we can overcome!

This young man is an over comer, and he has taken this trial and has learned how to stand in it, and make something good out of it for God.

Whatever you are facing right now, you too can walk THROUGH it and you can CHOOSE to make it something for God!

Changing Your Way of Thinking

Posted in life coach for women tagged , , , , at 12:01 pm by Sandra Hersey

j0402594

We all know about attitudes and have heard even our parents tell us to “change our attitudes” when as children we were misbehaving or having a wrong thought process about a situation. Why did they want us to change our attitudes; because when we change our attitudes, our thinking changes, which results in our way of acting.

It all comes back to our thoughts about a situation. Our way of thinking is where our belief system lies. The Word of God tells us as a man thinks in his heart so is he. As a Christian Life Coach and Bible Teacher I have spoken to many people and it always comes back to their “way” of thinking. No matter what is going on in their lives it boils down to their thought process concerning their lives and the world around them.

What we need to understand is that the spoken words out of our mouths have authority over our thoughts. What we allow to come out of our mouths is what will eventually come to pass. The Word has scriptures about guarding our mouths and watching our tongues, why; because the spoken word is far more powerful than your thoughts! What we SAY is what will happen!

I heard Kenneth Copeland give a wonderful illustration to prove how our words have authority over our thoughts and I want us to do it now. Will you do this easy exercise with me now?

Ok, start counting from one to ten in your mind, do not speak out loud, do it now…… ok, now say your name out loud. What happened? You stopped thinking to speak out loud. Our spoken words will always cause our thoughts to stop!

In this exercise we see we can make some assessments:

One, you decided to do the exercise or maybe you decided not to, either way you made a decision right?

Two, you began to think about counting and controlled your thinking to do as you wanted -and that was to count, or you controlled your thinking not to count if you did not participate, either way you had control of your thinking correct?

Lastly, you spoke out your name because you willed to do it. You wanted to speak it out or again you did not will it at all and did not even participate.

No matter if you participated in the exercise or not- you decided what you were going to do, you controlled your thoughts to do what you wanted and then you chose to control your spoken word by either speaking or not! This is the way in which God has created us. We can decide, we can think, and we can speak and always the spoken word has the authority.

Words are powerful; the Bible tells us over and over to “say to this” or “say to that,” because God knows how He created us, and He knows that our spoken words have power! I have had people tell me they cannot control their thoughts or control what they say. I hear people speaking negative things into their lives daily. They talk about how bad it is or how sick they are or how disobedient their children are or how their spouse is this or that. We have to know our words are powerful. Life and death is in the tongue according to Proverbs 18:21. (You want life, so speak things that are life!)

So how do we change our way of thinking? Well it is easy but let me warn you now it is work. It is as easy as what you have already done- decide, think, and say! Decide what you want, think on what you want, and speak out what you want according to the Word of God. The Bible has an answer for every single problem and situation you face in life. There is not one situation the Bible does not give us an answer to. Our responsibility is to search out the Word of God and find the answer to our situation. Then we must decide that this is what we want, then we must think on that scripture, and we must speak it out! Decide, think, say! We cannot do this just one time and expect it to be done. So many Christians stand on a scripture for one time or maybe even a week and then say “it did not work nothing has changed.” But we are to keep standing! (Hebrews 12:3, Ephesians 6:13-14)

The Word of God works (Isaiah 55:11). It is our responsibility to pray and search out the Scriptures to find the Promise which God has ALREADY given us, then we are to decide it is for us, think on it and make it ours, then most importantly we are to speak it out every day, all day if we have to.

So I challenge you today, no matter what your situation is. If you need healing in your body, peace or joy in your life, prosperity in your finances – no matter what it is God has ALREADY given you a Promise you CAN stand on, find it and decide, think, and say and watch what your Heavenly Father will do for YOU!©

7 Ways to a Joyous Day

Posted in life coach for women tagged , , , at 12:07 pm by Sandra Hersey

j0438953

Ever have one of those bad days? You know—not kind of bad, but bad. You mess up at work. You have a terrible fight with your spouse. Your doctor calls you in for some tests that sound pretty scary. A day seemingly beyond all redemption. When you have a day like that (and let’s face it, we all do sometimes), you have several choices. You can retreat into paralyzing fear, act out inappropriately or just go into complete denial.

But there’s actually another choice: You can rejoice.

Rejoice? Why? you ask.

Because it’s the only real way out. “This is the day the Lord has made,” the psalmist tells us. “We will rejoice and be glad in it.” This day? This messy, painful, frustrating day deserves a chance? Yes. Every day, whether it includes a lost wallet, a dented bumper or the funeral of a loved one, deserves our full presence. They all come from God’s drawing room.

Still not convinced? Try these seven strategies the next time you find yourself trapped in a day that holds more than you think you can bear. You’ll be surprised at how freeing they are.

Fret Not

Anxiety will ruin your day. And it can be a real confidence-killer. I know. I get plenty of opportunities to fret: Was I too long-winded in my talk? Is my latest book any good? Do I have any business telling people how to live? The drumbeat of worry can be deafening.

I like the approach of a friend who once told me, “Well, Max, I always assume everyone likes me.”

What a crazy idea, I thought. But I decided to give it a try—not just once, but to make it a regular thought habit. I started by giving myself and my audience the benefit of the doubt: We’re all here because we’re comfortable with one another.

That habit has changed how I view the world. It’s not such a menacing place anymore.

You can’t add one more day to your life or more life to your day by fretting. Worry doesn’t take away tomorrow’s troubles; it only rids today of its strength.

And why should you worry when you are surrounded by friends wherever you go?

Forgive Freely

I forgive easily. Or so I like to think. But some years ago a Christian leader publicly criticized me without giving me a chance to defend myself. This leader was offended by something I’d said on my radio show, misinterpreting my words, I thought. He wrote an article about me, inferring untrue things. I was angry and hurt. Really hurt.

I moped for a few weeks, until I realized I was letting this man’s accusations rob me of joy. So I wrote him a letter, telling him how I felt. He never wrote back. Maybe he never got my letter. I don’t know. But what I realized was that by writing that letter, I forgave him. Forgiveness is not about saying that what a person did is okay or that they’re right. It’s about making a decision, a choice to let the hurt and anger go. It frees you up to move on. Forgive someone and you’ll discover that that person has virtually no power to hurt you anymore. Then you’ll be able to focus on what you really care about: the joy of life.

Fear Not

Heart trouble runs in my family. Mom, Dad and my older brother have all had heart problems. I was so scared about having a heart attack, I became an exercise fanatic. I’m taking care of my health, I told myself, gritting my teeth. I even trained for the grueling half-Ironman triathlon. That should fix things.

Then about a year ago my cardiologist told me that I would probably still need to have heart surgery. All those miles of jogging and skipping desserts and stressing about my health, and my heart was no better off than it was before!

I’m not saying that exercise is bad. In fact, it’s very good for you. I still run. My mistake was to think that I could run from my fears.

Fear is a joy-killer. It can make me stressed out, short-tempered, unhappy.

What’s the opposite of fear? Trust. I do better when I trust in God—and go for a short jog. He’s in control of my life.

Place your fear in God’s hands and you’ll find that you have greater peace each day.

Live Passionately

I was a senior in high school when I made one of the most important discoveries of my life—I loved to write. My English teacher assigned us to write a short story. The whole class groaned, but inwardly I thought, Yes! I wrote that first story through the night. It wasn’t very good. But it was a great effort.

And from then on in my career and in my life I’ve always looked for opportunities to write. Writing is something I do from the soul.

Discover your passions by looking back over your life for those sweet-spot moments where you’ve had ‘Yes! experiences. String those together, and you’ll begin to see new possibilities for your life.

Nothing gives the day greater joy than a good wallop of passion that comes from doing something from the soul.

Get Over It!

Sometimes I’ll have a bad day just by waking up on the proverbial wrong side of the bed. I don’t know why I’m grouchy, but I stay that way for the rest of the day.

If you look long enough and hard enough, you’ll find something to bellyache about. So quit looking!

If you have health problems like I do, you probably feel justified in complaining. Being in pain is no fun. But try this instead of griping: Take a break from your problems. Face each day determined to dwell on the positives. Think about what you have to look forward to. Write a list and put it where you can see it. Try lending an ear to someone in need. Be especially kind to people with whom you have only one encounter—a waiter, a taxi driver, a store clerk. You may have only one chance to be kind.

When you start living for others, it’s pretty hard not to get over whatever’s bothering you.

Collect Your Blessings

Recognize all that you have, and finding blessings to collect will become easy. The key to a joyous day? Make gratitude your default emotion. Say, “I can find things to be grateful for in this day.” Let your thoughts be positive. Expect good things to happen. Seek out people who can encourage you. Over time, you’ll find that God’s list of blessings is longer than your list of burdens.

Once in a race, I was running next to a 66-year-old grandma. I was about to give up, but she urged me on. “Just hang in there, you’re doing really well. Look how far you’ve come.” I ran next to her and started congratulating myself for all the miles I’d run, not the ones that were still ahead. It worked and I finished the race strong.

Color Your World

One day I was at the beach, enjoying the balmy day I had so looked forward to. The sand was soft and cool. Tufts of clouds drifted across a deep blue sky. I leaned back in my beach chair and closed my eyes. That’s when a seagull decided to use my chest as target practice. Yuck! I poured water on my shirt, trying desperately to get the stain out. And just like that, I’d lost the color of the day. Almost.

Maybe you were caught in bad traffic or your flight was cancelled or you haven’t gotten over that nagging cold. How can you see the world in vibrant color on a day like that? Many of us can’t. There I was on the beach…about to allow one errant seagull ruin my day. I moved my chair, trying to regain the magic of the morning. And then I practiced all these steps I’ve been writing (passionately) about: forgiving the bird (after all, it was only doing what came naturally), not fretting or fearing, counting my blessings (what a beautiful beach) and mostly, getting over it! No, it wasn’t too late for my day to be a joyous one.

The world is full of vibrant color. Don’t let it lose an ounce of its luster. Assume this day is going to be good, and it will. God made it so.
