You Have Power And It Is In Your Tongue!

Proverbs 12:18 instructs us that “Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” When I first became a Christian I started to understand how much I needed to control my tongue. I was the kind of person who said what is on their mind, especially when I would see wrong being done. Whenever I was in a conflict with someone I would always feel bad after I told them what I thought, even though I did not mean to hurt them. One of the first books which helped me in this area was “Me and My Big Mouth” by Joyce Meyer. It is easy to let an unintended word or comment roll off the tongue. However, what I had to learn, was even though I did not mean to harm them and was “only trying to help” and bring “constructive criticism” (so I thought) those words were destructive to the hearer.

I find that gathering with others and partaking in gossip is a place where wildfires start. Even when we take part in jokes, insults, or even snide comments, we are in danger of being pulled into a place of recklessness and this can be destructive to the work God wants to do through us.

Anyone who has been around me for even a little while learns quickly how important I believe the power of the tongue is. Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.“ This tells us our words can do a lot of damage (even unto death!) or they can also do a lot of good. And looking back at Proverbs 12:18 we see that wise words have the ability to heal. When we are in conversations with people we have the opportunity to speak life or death, bring healing or pierce like a sword! Wow what power we have in our own little tongue!

We must understand we are to control our tongues and speak life and healing into our lives and into the lives of those around us. I have often thought, what if our life was like a movie where whatever we said came to pass immediately! Would we watch the words we allowed to come forth out of our mouths! Would we be more careful at what we confessed over our child when they made us angry? Would we stop allowing words of death, lack, and dying to come across our tongue?

Today as you and I go about I have a challenge for us. We are to speak as if everything we say will come to pass immediately, no matter who it is said about and no matter what is said. Let’s take notice of the words we allow to come forth. Even those small sayings that seem to mean nothing, let’s only speak life and healing today! You have power and it is in your tongue!

Miracle In The Making Part 2

We feel that because of the life that we have lived that we cannot be used by God to do anything for him. We look at our past and the circumstances we are in right now. But Romans 4:17 tells us that God calls us, as we are to be. He calls things that are not as though they were. He does not see us as we are now, but he sees us as we are to become. We only need to allow him to work in us and on us. I believe that is why He can look on us with so much compassion. He already knows the end of the story. Have you ever watched a movie that you did not like a character in the movie, but by the end of the movie you see how they have changed? You now know what they have gone though; therefore you understand why they do what they do. Well that’s how it is with God. He does know every detail about your life, and He knows how the story will turn out, if we allow Him to be the director. If you were to watch that same movie over again you would see that same character in a different light because you already know why they do what they do, and you already know the end of the story, and how they will change.

None of us are worthy to be used of God. None of us can even begin to do enough to allow God to use us. But look at the great ones in the bible. David was a man after God’s heart according to the Word of God. This was a young man who was told when he was a teenager that God had anointed him to be the King. And he had to wait for years and years for that prophecy to come to pass. Yet in the time that he was waiting for this prophecy to be fulfilled he was being pursued by his father-in-law, who was insanely jealous and wanted to kill him. Saul was so jealous of David and yet David was married to his daughter! Not only that David was also Saul’s son’s best friend, they were friends like we do not even understand. How could you try to kill your own son-in-law and your son’s best friend? Yet David had to wonder “God do you remember that you said that I would be King, why I’m out here running for my life and hiding in caves?” Even after David’s prophesy came to pass and he did become King, he sinned. He committed adultery with Bathsheba and then had her husband killed. But yet, I said but yet, you still didn’t hear me I said but yet, God forgave him, God used him, and God said “David was a man after His own heart!” Now if God can use David I know that God can use you too. There is nothing that is so bad that the blood of Jesus cannot cover. We allow Satan to take our minds and convince us that we cannot do anything great for God. Yet God has called us to do many great things for Him. Jesus Himself said that of all the great works that He did, greater, greater, and greater I say, are the works that we will do.

God has a plan for you my friend and He wants you to move out into that plan and purpose He has called you to. Declare this out loud today “I have a destiny, I have a plan and purpose for my life that has been ordained by God Himself. No one and nothing can stand between my and what God has for me. I cannot fail; I am a miracle in the making.”

Miracle In The Making Part 1

Why is it that God allows some of those who are great to remain on the earth to do His work and some He takes home at an early age? I think about Rachel Scott the young teenage girl, at the age of seventeen, who was murdered in the tragic school shooting in Columbine, Colorado in April 1999. This young girl wanted to live for Jesus and let others see Him thorough her life. On a piece of paper, sometime before her death, Rachel had outlined her hands and wrote the inscription “These hands belong to Rachel Joy Scott and will some day touch millions of people’s hearts.” And in her own words she wrote “I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion then it will start a chain reaction of the same.”

Does God bring them home so that He can enjoy being with them because their love for Him was so great? And what of the loved ones that remain here in hurt and unbelief? God is a God who is in control even when we do not understand what the circumstances surrounding us means. He is a God who has ways that are higher than our ways. He is a God who has a perfect plan.

Anointing comes when you allow God to work his perfect plan in your life. We have all come from circumstances in our lives that tell us that we should not be used of God to do any good thing. We are not even worthy to clean the toilets for Him, but He calls us to be His hands and His feet. God’s hands and God’s feet…. that is an awesome thought when you think about it. God wants to use us to be His hands, by being the hands for Him, to touch lives of others and to change them. You may be called to touch people with the power of God and heal their bodies, through His power. He may even be using your hands to touch a child and hug them, or He may be using your hands for Him to touch the elderly and bring peace to them as you speak with them and lay your hands on theirs, as a sign of caring. God wants to use your feet to lead you to places for Him. He may be leading you to the mission field or He may be leading you to help your neighbor. He may take you around the world to preach the Gospel or He may take you to your church to teach a Sunday school class, or He may even take you into the marketplace where you currently work, to minister to a co-worker. Allow God to work in you the perfect plan that He has ordained for you.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that He knows the plans He has for us, plans to prosper us, to give us a future and a hope. That tells us that when He places us on this earth, when we were placed inside our mother’s womb we were put here for a reason. It was by no accident that you arrived here at the time and place that you arrived. It was by no accident that you came to your particular parents. God had a plan and He said I will place (your name) here so that he/she can be used for me, and (your name) will do this for me. Jeremiah 1:5 says “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee….and I ordained thee.” You are not where you are today by accident; it is the divine plan of The Almighty God. He saw your future before you were born. What is going on in your life right now may seem insignificant, but God ordained it. The word ordained means to be sanctified or set apart. Your parents did not bring you into this world, God brought you here through your parents, He ordained you; He sanctified you and set you apart.

What Assurance Do You Have?

Posted in Perseverance, action, attitude, determination, goals, life coach, life coach for women, personal development, success tagged at 2:19 pm by Sandra Hersey

Remember those commercials on TV which tell us how we are in a good place – protected by their product or service if we would only buy what they are selling? I recall these advertisements telling us “like a good neighbor State Farm is there,” and one which assures us; “we’ve got you covered.”

As a child of the Most High King we have the best assurance of all – Jesus Assurance! Jesus assured us in John 14:13 “Whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do…” Jesus assures us we can ask – we have been given permission to ask the Father using His name! In this world of doubt, lack, and sickness we see fear running ramped. We must come against fear with the Word of God. We ask in the Name of Jesus and it SHALL be done! If we have needs which must be met, then we come asking in Jesus Name! God is a God who is the giver of good things, every good and perfect gift comes from Heaven (James 1:17).

Now I am a big advocate against the “help me, do for me” prayers we so often like to give. We rush into a time of prayer and give our “grocery or to do list” to God and out the door we run. Then we allow words to come out all day long which go against the Word of God all together. We speak of lack in our lives, we talk about being sick, we get out of love with the person we work with, and complain about this, that or the other. All the while we are sabotaging our lives. Our words are the seeds in our lives. What seeds we sew with our mouth will come to pass!

We are to set ourselves to seek God as Jehoshaphat did in 2 Chronicles 20. Starting in verse 6 is what I consider a model way of praying. Jehoshaphat began praising God for who He is. Praising God for what He has done. Then Jehoshaphat asked God to move on their behalf! Of course at that time Jesus had not come, so Jehoshaphat did not pray in Jesus Name, but this is where we are to ask in the Name of Jesus. Notice then the Holy Spirit moved on the people of Judah and spoke to them. We are so busy and rushing through our prayer time that we do not even wait to hear what the Holy Spirit has to tell us! We are to set ourselves to seek God, praising Him, worshiping Him, thanking Him, then asking in Jesus Name, and waiting for Him to give us our instructions for the day. Then we go out standing on what the Word says and speaking over our lives as the Word says, we are healed, we are not in lack, we are blessed children of God!

Jesus loves you. He came to this earth for you. He died for you. He took stripes on His back for your sickness and diseases so you do not have to carry them! He gave it all for you! What are you needing right now? Ask the Father in Jesus powerful and precious name and He will do it for you! You have been given the best assurance anyone can give you – Jesus Assurance!

What is in a name?

Revelation knowledge is very exciting to me. Ephesians 5:20 is a scripture I know and have quoted so many times in my walk with the Lord. I bet you too can quote it …… “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” but here is the revelation.

I have always said “always” give thanks to God our Father, I have always said give thanks for “all” things. That in itself can be a lesson, We are to always give thanks. No matter what we give thanks. We are to give thanks in “all” things; the good, the bad, the ugly. Not giving thanks for the problem, but instead for the strength we are gaining. Or for what God is removing out of us in the situation, or what He is placing in us, in this situation. But that was not the revelation…..

This scripture specifically tells us “in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!” We are to declare out of our mouths and in our prayers, “Thank you Father for ————- in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!” Do you see that? Why? Why are we to be thanking our Father God in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ?

We seem to throw around “the name of Jesus” like a cliché sometimes. I am just as guilty! We are praying and we finish “in the Name of Jesus, Amen.” We have forgotten these are not just words! They are power house declarations! When we pray or declare in the Name of Jesus we are speaking by the authority of Jesus! We are not speaking in our own authority but because Jesus authorized us to take action in His name we have the right! (John 14:13  “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.“) When David battled against Goliath, he came to him “in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied” (1 Samuel 17:45). He did not go in his own power and authority but in the power which belonged to God! This authority gave David the ability to fight Goliath and be victorious.

When we come in someone else’s name we come in their stead. In other words the person to whom we go to is expected to react to us, not based on who we are, but as if the person who sent us was there himself. They are to treat us as they would treat the one who authorized us to come! Jesus authorizes us to come in His name, and the Father is obligated to treat us as He would His own Son, because we came in His stead. We are representing Jesus when we come to the Father by using Jesus name!  Romans 8:17 “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” We are joint heirs with Jesus Christ, we share the same inheritance!

When we open our mouths to thank our Father in Heaven for ALL things we are to use the authority given to us and thank God in the Name of Jesus!

Today is National Day of Prayer

Posted in Perseverance, attitude, determination, dream coach, goals, life coach, life coach for women, personal development, success tagged , at 12:05 pm by Sandra Hersey

Today is National Day of Prayer. More than ever we need to be covering our nations leaders with our prayers. We can complain or we can choose to pray and ask God to change our nation. As children of God it is our requirement to pray for those in authority over us according to 1 Timothy 2: 1-3.

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour”

On the National Day of Prayer website they have tons of prayers and interaction for this day. You can even add your very own prayer requests and keep them private or make them public. I invite you to check it out and pray, pray, pray!

The National Observance will take place today Thursday, May 7th, in Washington D.C. from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon (Eastern) and will be broadcast LIVE via webcast and through GOD TV, channel 365 on Direct TV and channel 138 on Sky Angel. Read More

Here is a prayer listed by Beth Moore this years Honorary Chair

Father in Heaven,

We lift our eyes toward Your Throne, where You reign in righteousness.

Your Word assures us that when Your people cry out in sincerity and humility, You will never turn a deaf ear to us.

We call upon You now, seeking Your forgiveness and favor.

Look over this fevered landscape and heal us, Lord.

Drop knees to the floor and raise eyes to the sky, for we know where our help comes from.

Unite these States again in devotion to You, and blur every dividing line.

Do not give us over to our sins. Give us, instead, over to passionate prayer that moves Your heart.

“May Your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You.”

In the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ

Amen

Revelation Will Change Your Situation!

Posted in Perseverance, action, attitude, determination, goals, life coach, life coach for women, personal development, success tagged , at 1:00 pm by Sandra Hersey

In Genesis chapter 1 we all know this portion of the Bible as the unfolding of God and His mastery as He created the heavens and the earth. Even in these few verses we see several wonderful things about our creator and father. Have you noticed in verse 3 He gave to us examples to help us to understand Him and how He works in our lives.

The first example was He “said.” When God spoke – things came into existence. He has set up for us and shown us a wonderful example. Even Jesus when He walked on the earth was telling his followers to “say” or “speak to.” This is how we are to live; we are to speak to our situation and say what we want to come to pass! God was showing us as a Father shows his child what we are to do. He wants us to open our mouth and speak out. Speak into existence what we want to come to pass! Mark 11:23 promises us if we “say” to our mountain to be gone and believe it will be, then whatsoever we “said” shall come to pass! I can give you more scriptures to prove to you God wants you saying and speaking over your daily life but to me this one sums it all up!

“For truly I say to you, That whoever shall say to this mountain, Be you removed, and be you cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he said shall come to pass; he shall have whatever he said.” (American King James Version)

What is a mountain? Anything in front of you that is too big to conquer! Anything in your life that is standing in your way that you need the impossible done! Good news is…… you serve the one and only “possible maker” what is impossible for you IS possible for God! But first YOU must SAY and BELIEVE!!!!

Now notice the second example God gave us in verse 3. He was speaking and created light correct? Yes, but have you noticed that even though He created light in verse 3 it was not until later (we see it in 14-18) that He created the two great lights the sun and the moon! In verse 3 (or first) He created the “mixture” or the ability for light. He first made the declaration of light – in other words He was telling it what to do! He was giving the “revelation” of light first, then later the two lights followed. So here is the point; has God given you revelation of something in your life that has not yet come to pass? God will show something to you – giving you revelation first – then He will bring it to pass! You are not to look at your current situation and think “did I miss God?” Or “did I mess it up?” NO! God spoke revelation to you and it WILL come to pass!

As our Heavenly Father He has shown us what we are to do and how He works. We are to speak and declare and we are to stand and believe when He has given us revelation. You must know and understand when God gives you revelation it WILL change your situation!

Start With Yourself

When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.

But, it too, seemed immovable.

As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.

And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed my self first, then by example I would have changed my family.

From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world.

-Author Unknown. The above words are said to be written on the tomb of an Anglican Bishop in the crypts of Westminster Abbey in London, England.
