Today I want us to look back over this past year and reflect on what we have DONE—to focus on our achievements both big and small.
Yes, I know this may be more difficult for you than looking into the future and writing down some meaningful goals. In a way, I want you to hold yourself ACCOUNTABLE for the time you spent here on earth this past year, and to recognize the accomplishments you have ALREADY done.
What are you most PROUD of? When you look at the different areas of your life: FAMILY, FRIENDS, YOURSELF, and YOUR WALK WITH GOD; what have you done in each of these areas that has already shown accomplishment in the past year?
Geoffrey Gaberino once said, “The real contest is always between what you’ve done and what you’re capable of doing. You measure yourself against yourself and nobody else.”
Look closely at what you have already accomplished in each of the areas listed above. The real question becomes, how closely do your achievements align with your personal mission? Do you have a personal mission statement for yourself? If not this is a great time to pray about what God would have you write. Did you know the Bible instructs us to “write it down and make it plain!”
As you notice the things you have already done, begin to thank God for those accomplishments and applaud yourself for those things accomplished!
You have accomplished great things! Focus on those things today and be proud of yourself!
