The Wise Woman’s Stone

gratitude

A wise woman, who was traveling in the mountains, found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.

But, a few days later, he came back to return the stone to the wise woman. “I’ve been thinking,” he said. “I know how valuable this stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me this stone.”

What do you have in you that is of value to others? Kindness, love, unselfishness – Jesus? Why not share Him today as you go about your day. Ask our Father in Heaven to put someone in your path today in which you can share what is inside of you with them.

Short and to the point, I love this post because it inspired me AND it’s not too complicated for me to remember and repeat. Just checking out your blog now that we’re following each other on Twitter. God bless.

Thank youSandra for reminding us to remember the things that God has put inside of us. His Holy Spirit that is living inside of us should bear witness to those who need to see Jesus in us. We need to tell of goodness. More importantly, people need to see that goodness so they want what we have to share. That is the “Good News.”

    This blog blessed me

I love this story…never heard that before. What a profound lesson. It sort of reminds me of the lesson that we need to “preach the gospel to all the world:use words, if necessary” and be the Jesus that the world needs to see.

Thanks so much for sharing it.

First time visiting your blog from Twitter. Excellent post! Just the encouragement I needed today! It’s so easy to get discouraged, especially when we give of ourselves to so many people.

    Thank you for sharing!

Sandra – beautiful story and thought! Thanks – I needed the reminder today that our most precious possession is our relationship with our Lord and Savior – nothing else compares with those riches!

Continued blessings to you as you work with G.I.R.L.S. – what a very worthy ministry!

    Have a blest day! Jane
