What is in a name?

Revelation knowledge is very exciting to me. Ephesians 5:20 is a scripture I know and have quoted so many times in my walk with the Lord. I bet you too can quote it …… “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” but here is the revelation.

I have always said “always” give thanks to God our Father, I have always said give thanks for “all” things. That in itself can be a lesson, We are to always give thanks. No matter what we give thanks. We are to give thanks in “all” things; the good, the bad, the ugly. Not giving thanks for the problem, but instead for the strength we are gaining. Or for what God is removing out of us in the situation, or what He is placing in us, in this situation. But that was not the revelation…..

This scripture specifically tells us “in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!” We are to declare out of our mouths and in our prayers, “Thank you Father for ————- in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!” Do you see that? Why? Why are we to be thanking our Father God in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ?

We seem to throw around “the name of Jesus” like a cliché sometimes. I am just as guilty! We are praying and we finish “in the Name of Jesus, Amen.” We have forgotten these are not just words! They are power house declarations! When we pray or declare in the Name of Jesus we are speaking by the authority of Jesus! We are not speaking in our own authority but because Jesus authorized us to take action in His name we have the right! (John 14:13  “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.“) When David battled against Goliath, he came to him “in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied” (1 Samuel 17:45). He did not go in his own power and authority but in the power which belonged to God! This authority gave David the ability to fight Goliath and be victorious.

When we come in someone else’s name we come in their stead. In other words the person to whom we go to is expected to react to us, not based on who we are, but as if the person who sent us was there himself. They are to treat us as they would treat the one who authorized us to come! Jesus authorizes us to come in His name, and the Father is obligated to treat us as He would His own Son, because we came in His stead. We are representing Jesus when we come to the Father by using Jesus name!  Romans 8:17 “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” We are joint heirs with Jesus Christ, we share the same inheritance!

When we open our mouths to thank our Father in Heaven for ALL things we are to use the authority given to us and thank God in the Name of Jesus!

Revelation Will Change Your Situation!

What situation do you need changed? Author Sandra HerseyIn Genesis chapter 1 we all know this portion of the Bible as the unfolding of God and His mastery as He created the heavens and the earth. Even in these few verses we see several wonderful things about our creator and father. Have you noticed in verse 3 He gave to us examples to help us to understand Him and how He works in our lives.

The first example was He “said.” When God spoke – things came into existence. He has set up for us and shown us a wonderful example. Even Jesus when He walked on the earth was telling his followers to “say” or “speak to.” This is how we are to live; we are to speak to our situation and say what we want to come to pass! God was showing us as a Father shows his child what we are to do. He wants us to open our mouth and speak out. Speak into existence what we want to come to pass! Mark 11:23 promises us if we “say” to our mountain to be gone and believe it will be, then whatsoever we “said” shall come to pass! I can give you more scriptures to prove to you God wants you saying and speaking over your daily life but to me this one sums it all up!

“For truly I say to you, That whoever shall say to this mountain, Be you removed, and be you cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he said shall come to pass; he shall have whatever he said.” (American King James Version)

What is a mountain? Anything in front of you that is too big to conquer! Anything in your life that is standing in your way that you need the impossible done! Good news is…… you serve the one and only “possible maker” what is impossible for you IS possible for God! But first YOU must SAY and BELIEVE!!!!

Now notice the second example God gave us in verse 3. He was speaking and created light correct? Yes, but have you noticed that even though He created light in verse 3 it was not until later (we see it in 14-18) that He created the two great lights the sun and the moon! In verse 3 (or first) He created the “mixture” or the ability for light. He first made the declaration of light – in other words He was telling it what to do! He was giving the “revelation” of light first, then later the two lights followed. So here is the point; has God given you revelation of something in your life that has not yet come to pass? God will show something to you – giving you revelation first – then He will bring it to pass! You are not to look at your current situation and think “did I miss God?” Or “did I mess it up?” NO! God spoke revelation to you and it WILL come to pass!

As our Heavenly Father He has shown us what we are to do and how He works. We are to speak and declare and we are to stand and believe when He has given us revelation. You must know and understand when God gives you revelation it WILL change your situation!

It Is Written; Therefore I Do Not Have To Take This!

It Is Written; Therefore I Do Not Have To Take This!In life we all love the blessing. We pray and declare the blessing over our life, we talk about the blessing, we keep our mind on the blessing. However, we forget that often after the blessing comes the battle! And when Jesus was here on this earth He was no exception. Following Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit sent Jesus out into the desert (Mark 1:12) and after fasting forty days Jesus was hungry. If you have ever been on a fast you can understand the hunger that Jesus experienced. But watch this; that is when Satan showed up and said to Jesus, If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread (Matthew 4:3).

You can count on the enemy to show up at your most vulnerable moments. That is not going to change. His whole mission in life is to steal from you, kill you, and destroy you; and he takes his job seriously! (John 10:10) When he does show up you had better know what the Word of God actually says! You cannot just know select verses you have heard over and over second or third hand. You must know what the Word says for yourself!

Sometimes we pick the parts of Scripture that fit our lives and our particular theology, but we must know that when the enemy manipulates God’s Word and uses it against us, we need to be able to say, “It is written” just like Jesus did. We need to know what else God has to say in it‘s entirety! The Bible says in Daniel 7:25 “He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws…” Friend Satan is going to do everything he can to take from us, it is up to US to stop him. God has already done everything He is going to do about the Devil on this earth; Jesus left US with the power to overcome the enemy!

Look again and what Jesus did when the Devil confronted Him. While He may have been in a venerable state, Jesus answered “It is also written: Do not put God to the test.” He knew what His Father had actually said and refused to allow Satan to dictate His responses – including what He should eat and when He should eat.

We are to read the Word everyday, the Word tells us to daily renew or transform our minds by the Word (Romans 12:2) We have the right AND the power to tell Satan- Get thee behind me (Mt 16:23) and we are to stop letting him tell us lies and even Truths! We are to get into God’s Word and get it into us!

When You Are Waiting on God For Your Breakthrough

When You Are Waiting on God For Your Breakthrough. Keys to victorious faith.

One of life’s lessons is to wait on God when you need a breakthrough! However, when we become impatient, frustrated, worried, or aggravated it is because we are trying to make something happen that only God himself can make happen. Joyce Meyer calls this “human energy attempting to do God’s job.”

How many times have you prayed and believed God for a breakthrough in your life to not see anything happen? I have many times. So what are we to do? How are we to act during this time of waiting?

Mark 4: 26-28 tells the story of the patient farmer. How do we know he is patient? Because the Word tells us he sowed his seed, then went away sleeping and rising! This does not sound like worrying and fretting to me. Then at the proper time the ground brings forth the promise of the seed – the harvest, the breakthrough! The Farmers job was to do what he knew to do: plant, sleep, rise and do his daily work, then allow the Lord of the Harvest to bring forth the promise.

Jesus was showing us how often we become impatient and try and get ahead of God. When God has given us a promise to stand on we want to know “God how are you going to do that? When are you going to bring it to pass? Verse 27 says “and then continues sleeping and rising night and day while the seed sprouts and grows and increases – he knows not how.” (Italic added) A farmer never knows exactly when his crop will come in, but he knows that it will. He does what he can and allows God to do the rest. We need to do the same thing. We are to believe we have a breakthrough coming, we sleep and rise and allow God to bring it about in due season. The farmer planted the seed believing for his return, his promise, his breakthrough and we are to do the same!
