Is God Mad At Me?

Is God Mad at meIs God mad at me? I have heard this question asked by people as well as even in movies. When something goes wrong we believe God is repaying us for something we have done in our past; that He is mad. Let me tell you the short answer to this pressing question; Is God mad at me – the answer is a resounding NO! Not at all; He is madly in love with you!

I do not care who you are or what you have done in your life God is not mad at you. He sent His son Jesus to die on a cross for you because He loves you so much (Ephesians 5:25). Even though this happened long before we were born, God sent Jesus to die for our sins BECAUSE He loves us. So why would He send His son if He was only going to be mad at us any way. God is not in the business of hurting you, He is in the business of loving on you. He purses you, He woos you, He wants you in His life and He wants to be in yours. No one who goes through that much pursuit wants to hurt you or just be mad at you.

Our belief system is one of the reasons we think God repays us with bad things. Because people have hurt us and repaid us with bad things we expect God to do the same. Maybe we have been abandoned and expect God to abandon us but He said He will NEVER leave us! (Deuteronomy 31:6) God is not mad at you; He is madly in love with you!

God IS love. This is a concept we really cannot understand. We say we love something or someone however our love is conditional – meaning we act towards others on how we feel in that moment. God’ s love is not conditional at all – He loves us no matter what! Further more God is actually love (1 John 4:8)! So how can love be mad? The Greek word agapos referred to as agape love, is the word used in this verse. It is used when speaking of an unconditional love. This love of God is boundless. Did you get that – His love for you is boundless! Boundless according to the dictionary means having no boundaries. His love for you has NO boundaries! Humans put up boundaries and when they are mad there are huge boundaries – but not God – His love for you has no boundaries!

God does not only give love; He is the source of love and He is the One who created love. It is because of His love that we are able to love. So how can God BE love, give love, create love and be mad at you? Again, God is not mad at you, He is madly in love with you!

“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness. (Psalm 145:8) The people we love are not always as this scripture states; we as humans are flawed. We are selfish, we are not compassionate, we are quick to get angry and slow to give mercy or kindness. But not God! He is completely opposite of every person who has hurt you in your life. He is completely opposite of every wrong thing someone has said to you which ripped out your heart. He is completely opposite of every manipulative thing someone did to you to make you do what they wanted. He IS love and He IS in love with you; God is not mad at you (say it with me) He is madly in love with you!

God loves you! God has compassion towards you! God is always there to give you new mercy – EVERY SINGLE morning (Lamentations 3:22-23)! You do not have roll-over or left over mercy – you get brand new mercy every single day – why? So you never run out. God wants you to have an endless supply of His mercy. If He was mad at you why would He give you this abundant supply of mercy?

I know if you are like me you have done some things in your life or things you are ashamed of. Try this – what is the worst thing you have ever done? Think about it. Now think of this – God has completely and utterly forgiven you for it; and not just forgiven you, but He has forgotten it too (Isaiah 43:25)! So let it go! You are already forgiven AND God has already forgotten it – therefore He is not mad at you; he is madly in love with you!

God forgave you once you asked “God please forgive me.” God is not punishing you when bad things come into your life – Jesus already told us we would have trials and tribulations in this world  (John 16:33). God accepts you as you are – He pursued you BECAUSE He loves you and wants you, therefore, God is not mad at you; He is madly in love with you!

Lastly, if you have made Jesus your Savior and you know you will someday be in Heaven with Him – have that same confidence in the fact that He is not mad at you. If you can believe He is your Savior then why not believe He is not mad at you; He is madly in love with you!

The Wait Is Over!

I'm A Sword Wielding Devil SlayerFinally the wait is over! Women have asked me sooooooooo many times when my newest book would arrive and it has – just in time for Christmas! I thought as a sneak peek I would give you the Introduction of this 40 day devotional after the tease – so here goes the tease:

“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.” Ephesians 6:13-18 (Message Translation)

The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. Jesus used this spiritual weapon when tempted by Satan in the desert. Each time Satan attempted to deliver a blow, Jesus blocked the attack with the Word of God by quoting scripture.

Using a sword is something that takes time and practice. A soldier must practice using his sword to defeat his enemy. In order to use your Sword, you must also practice and use it. That means being in the Word every day and knowing what is says.

This 40 day devotional will teach you how to pierce through the lies and deceptions of the enemy. Jesus knew the Word of God and was able to defend and attack the devil by using the scriptures to attack and drive His enemy away. You, girlfriend, will learn to do that too!

It’s time to take back all the enemy has stolen from you by putting on your stilettos and crushing the enemy’s head! You must keep him where God has already destined him to be – under your feet!

So unsheathe the Sword of God, girlfriend, and wield it over your life and stop the enemy and his invasions!

Introduction:

You, wonderful lady, were born for such a time as this! Do you realize that? You are valuable and necessary to God! As you take the time with your Heavenly Father, He is going to give you answers to questions you have been asking. You are about to learn how to take the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. You are going to wield it over your life and see the enemy run! Do not doubt the value of what you have in your hands; your Sword; God’s Word! Ephesians 6:17 says, “And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.” The word “wield” according to the Merriam’s Dictionary means, “To handle {a tool} effectively, to exert one’s authority.” According to Charles B. Williams, The New Testament: A Translation in the Language of the People, verse 17 here in Ephesians is explaining the Spirit is the subject or agent of the verbal action. And, Hebrews 4:12 says the Sword of the Spirit is a two-edged sword – The Greek translation says a two mouthed sword. {Now stay with me here, I said a huge mouth full to show you something exciting!} A two mouthed sword means, you speaking out the Word of God on one side, and the Spirit of God speaking out on the other! Do you get it? As you speak out the Word of God over your life, the Spirit Himself speaks out the Word of God over your life as well! You are speaking or wielding, and He is wielding as well, as Ephesians 6:17 says! Girlfriend, if you missed that back up and read it again to get a revelation on this now before you go any further! This understanding is what will help change your life! {I’ll wait for you- go ahead, read it again!}
Notice also, a sword is an unmistakable weapon and can be used as a tool for offense and defense. While you are on the offense you speak out the Word of God {wield it} which will cause you to win. When you are on the defense you declare the Word of God out {wield it} to keep the enemy from scoring! Remember, this is no ordinary Sword! This Sword is made of the Spirit {Holy Spirit} and the Word {Bible}. In spiritual warfare the battles are fought with words. Words packed and backed up with the Spirit of God, as you declare them over your life! That is how you wield your Sword!
Over the next forty days you are going to learn just how to take the Promises God has given you and take back all the Devil has stolen from you! Why forty days you ask? The number forty is very important to God, obviously. There are at least ten instances in the Old Testament and New Testament where the number forty occurs. This may have been in years or days.
It rained forty days and forty nights on Noah and his family. The flood waters covered the earth for forty days and forty nights. After forty days the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. When Joseph’s father Jacob died he mourned him for forty days.  Moses was on top of Mt. Sinai for forty days and forty nights with God. For forty years the children of Israel wandered in the desert. Forty days and forty nights the giant Goliath defied the armies of the Lord. Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights after the Holy Spirit came on Him; before starting His earthly ministry. And Jesus was seen on the earth for forty days after His crucifixion. The number forty represents to us, whether it is days, months, or years, a period of tests, trials, and chastisement {not judgment}, and, hallelujah, it ends with a period of restoration, revival, or renewal! {Are you excited about restoration, revival, and renewal? I am!} It is a time for you, mighty woman, to draw closer to God and to stand on His Word! You will begin to cultivate a deeper relationship as you spend intimate time with Him. You will grow and He will give you fresh anointing. God will develop your patience and He will show you His protection and give you supernatural direction from Him.
You will learn how to take the Word of God – The Sword of the Spirit, and to wield it over your family, finances, health, mind, and relationships – your entire life!
At the end of each day there is a section named, “Wield your Sword” where you will declare out the Word of God. Feel free to add to any of the declarations you want to add, but remember, you wield by speaking out loud God’s Word. So girlfriend, for the next forty days you will learn to wield God’s promises and take back what the Devil has stolen from you!
Look at this verse in Ephesians 6 in the Message translation, “Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet!”
Girlfriend, you will be on your feet as a stiletto wearing, Sword wielding devil slayer! And if you do not wear stilettos that is OK, just be a flip-flop wearing, sword wielding devil slayer! Either way, girlfriend, shoes or no shoes, YOU will be standing on your feet victorious and YOU will stop the enemy! ~ Exert from I’m A Sword Wielding Devil Slayer book

What You Think On Matters

What You Think On matter

We have all heard that we are what we eat and though this is true concerning our health, as importantly, we are what we think on! Proverbs 23:7 tells us plainly, “For as [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he.”

One of the most important things we do is to think. And our thinking happens without our even willing it to. Our thinking can be profitable or futile. We are, or at least we should be, masters of our thoughts. We can think on the good or we can think on the bad; the choice is ours. But we cannot think both good and bad thoughts simultaneously anymore than we can travel east and west at the same time. We have to choose carefully what to think. According to Philippians 4:8 we are to have our thoughts on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy!

It’s true that thinking on the good in your current storm does take work. In fact it has been said, “To think truth regardless of appearance is laborious and requires the expenditure of more power than any other work a person has to perform.” But the key is – it can be done!

2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us how to get our thoughts where they are to be by casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Simply, we check every thought against what God’s Word says. There is power that comes from focus. If you can just put your thoughts on what God wants us to think on and give your mind to God in such a way that He can use it, it will be amazing what He will do! You will have to endure some storms in life and some disappointments along the way, but even storms and disappointments have the power to change your life, if you can make sure your thinking is right in the process!

There was a poem written about two men who were in prison. Two of the most important lines of that poem go like this:

Two men looked out from prison bars,
One saw the mud, the other saw the stars.

As a man thinks in his heart so is he. You can live with the mud of wrong thinking in your situation or can look differently at your situation and see the “stars”! Focus on what God promises in his Word instead of what is warring around you!

Worship With Gladness

god-do-it-again-coverPsalm 100:2  “Worship the Lord with gladness.”

How do we worship the Lord with gladness?

Gladness according to the Webster Dictionary means: “characterized by or showing cheerfulness, joy, or pleasure, as looks or utterances.” So we are to worship the Lord by showing cheerfulness, joy or pleasure. And we are to worship the Lord with looks or utterances; our speaking out.

Our Father in Heaven wants us to worship Him by being glad, being joyful, and speaking out the gladness we have for Him and for what we has given to us in our lives; what He has so graciously given us. If we were to look at Deuteronomy 28: 47 it tells us that because the Israelites did not serve the LORD their God with joy and a glad heart for all God had done, curses were to fall upon them. Our Father wants us to worship Him and thank Him for all He has done for us!

We are to think on, and list all those things we are grateful for; every little thing. I challenge you today to use this whole day to thank on the goodness that your Father has given you. As you move throughout your day, stop and thank Him. Choose to shut off the radio on your commute. Choose to take time in your lunch hour or break to think on those things. From the smallest to the biggest, use this day to worship Him with gladness!

Today Is Awesome Because God Is

I know you just read the headline “Today is Awesome Because God Is” but your day may not feel as if it is awesome or you may not even realize God has this day in His hands.

Why is God awesome?

Because He is creator and sustainer or your life. Psalm 33:6-9 NKJV “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.”

Did you get that? GOD created. If there ever was a big bang, GOD caused it! We must remember that life from nothing came from God and if He did nothing more than that alone; that makes Him awesome! But not only did He create, but it works because He sustains it!

In Hebrews 1:3 NCV talking about Jesus, the Hebrew writer proclaims in “The Son reflects the glory of God and shows exactly what God is like. He holds everything together with his powerful word. When the Son made people clean from their sins, he sat down at the right side of God, the Great One in heaven.”

Let all who say that there is no God understand that they could not have the air they breathe, or the gravity that holds themselves to this world, or even the ability to think, if it were not for the power of God’s glory!!

Not only is He Creator and Sustainor, but He KNOWS THE END FROM THE BEGINNING!

God is never surprised! (Isaiah 48:12 NCV) “People of Jacob, listen to me. People of Israel, I have called you to be my people. I am God; I am the beginning and the end.”

God IS the beginning and the end. (Isaiah 46:9-10 NCV) “Remember what happened long ago. Remember that I am God, and there is no other God. I am God, and there is no one like me. From the beginning I told you what would happen in the end. A long time ago I told you things that have not yet happened. When I plan something, it happens. What I want to do, I will do.”

God is awesome because He has provided salvation for man!

(John 3:16 NCV) “God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.”

(John 1:11-12 NCV) “He came to the world that was his own, but his own people did not accept him. But to all who did accept him and believe in him he gave the right to become children of God.”

(John 10:10 NCV) “A thief comes to steal and kill and destroy, but I came to give life–life in all its fullness.”

(Mark 16:15-16 NCV) “Jesus said to his followers, “Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved, but anyone who does not believe will be punished.”

So what does knowing the “awesomeness” of God do for you?  Knowing that God is awesome takes the pressure off of you. Eternity does not hinge on your performance. God’s glory is not dependant upon you! Yes, we must be vessels of glory for Him, but He is not dependant upon it. When we begin to understand the power and majesty of our God and that He is the potter, we are the clay, We begin to realize:

How little we need to do.
How much we need to yield.
How much we need to trust.
How much we need to humbly obey.

Knowing God is awesome and that you trust Him, leads you to trust, that even when you blow it, He is there to bend down and pick up the broken pieces and heal you and the situation!

(Deuteronomy 33:26-27 NIV) “There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ’Destroy him!’”

THERE IS NONE LIKE THE GOD OF JESHURUN!

You can trust the fact that today IS awesome because God IS awesome. Trust Him to lead you, take care of you and love you like you’ve never been loved before.
(Romans 8:37-39 NCV) “But in all these things we have full victory through God who showed his love for us. Yes, I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor ruling spirits, nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us, nothing below us, nor anything else in the whole world will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Notice it says in ALL things, no matter what your “thing” is it is included in the ALL things! In ALL things you have FULL victory through God! That alone makes today awesome because God IS awesome!

Peace To Deal With Our Present and Courage To Deal With Our FutureIt’s not a surprise to hear we live in a world of turmoil. Wars are being fought all over the world, news reports tell us of shootings, failing economy, and natural disasters. Even as you listen to the news, or even get your news off of Twitter as I do, you hear of so much tragedy. How do we find real peace and walk in peace each day in the midst of such chaos? It all goes back to the words of Jesus; living the Red Letter Lifestyle of His words in John 16:33. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” What is important to know, is that these very words Jesus spoke, came just a few hours before He Himself would be crucified; rocking the very foundations of the lives of the disciples who had come not only to follow Him, but to love Him. They would soon see that the Messiah they had hoped for and believed in, would die a horrible death. This also meant that they would live in fear for their own lives. Jesus spoke these words because He knew that the world was at odds with the purposes of God. But the good news is that both then and now Jesus offers us peace. His very own peace! “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27). He wants you and I to have His peace!

But how do we have peace to deal with our present situation and courage to deal with our future in unsettling times? By putting first things first- gaining peace with God. You can’t have the peace of God until you have peace with God. The fact is that outside of Christ you are not a child of God. That is the lot of all who do not accept Jesus Christ, or refuse to accept His offer of eternal life which He purchased on the cross for everyone! Jesus said we can be God’s child– He wants you as His child, and He sent Jesus into this world to make that happen.

How to live in the peace of God:

1. Understand God is sovereign.

As we give God our lives, He is in control from beginning to the end, and we must remember His plans will succeed. Jesus said that He has already overcome the world in His death. He conquered sin and its power, then He went on to conquer death and its power in His resurrection! He has also given us His Living Word – The Bible. The Bible allows us to find direction and comfort in Him and His promises; and these promises cannot be thwarted by anyone! Understanding He ALONE is sovereign goes a long way to help you live in His peace. Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

2. Pray

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

We are also instructed to “pray without ceasing” which means to continue to be in an attitude of prayer throughout the day. God hears you and He moves on behalf of His people. He is not deaf to your concerns and prayers. I once read that the average person has more than two hundred negative thoughts a day! We have worries, jealousies, insecurities, and the list goes on! It has been reported that those who are depressed have as many as six hundred negative thoughts running around every day! We may not be able to eliminate all the troublesome things that go on in our lives, but we can learn to stop invasions in our mind and have victory over our thoughts! (Read my latest book: Help! One of the best ways to reduce the negative thoughts invading your mind is to turn them into prayers. It is important that we also pray according to God’s Will. What is His Will? The Bible! When faced with a concern we are to find scripture to cover our situation in prayer; according to what God has already promised us. Instead of, “God help I am broke!” You pray according to the Bible – “Father you know that I am in need of money right now, but I trust you Lord and I confess your Word that You are my provider and I trust in you Father to look over your Word that you said and to perform it! I thank you that you are supplying even now.” When we spend time praising and thanking Him for the answer before it comes- not just our concerns, we find peace in the fact that God is active in our situation and peace will flood our minds. Look at Daniel 9:23 and what the angel of God said to Daniel about the fact he was praying, “The moment you began praying, a command was given.” Now look at Isaiah 65:24 “I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!” God doesn’t have to check his Facebook inbox or text messages to see when we send up a prayer to Him. He hears immediately and He immediately answers, however those prayers are not always revealed for us immediately in the natural for many different reasons. But take comfort in knowing God hears us and answers us, and it is our responsibility to trust Him and His Word and wait for the manifestation of the answer!

3. Fix your mind; Having a Biblical Mindset

Ecclesiastes 5:1 (Amp.) “Keep your foot, give your mind to what you are doing.” We are to listen to the voice of God. How? By prayer and reading His Word. Then we will be able to give our mind to Him instead of our worries. People who adopt a Biblical mindset and who are Christ-centered and focused on others can live in peace. Why? Because the world’s value systems do not determine your outlook or outcomes – the promises of the Bible does! That’s not to say that you will never be affected by this world. But by having a Biblical mindset you choose to believe the Bible is true and correct in all it teaches. When you are faced with a time of unsettling, pick up your Bible and read. I like to start with the book of Psalms. I read them aloud as prayers to God. Soon I feel His presence and I feel the weights of worry lifting. Then find scripture to cover your present situation. {Coming Soon my newest book on how to do this: I’m A Sword Wielding Devil Slayer!}  Above all you are to think on what God instructs you to think on – not what the world is dishing out. Philippians 4:8 gives us specific instructions, “Whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].” Then look at verse 7, “And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

4. Keep Moving!

I know when disaster hits we feel like we just can’t continue to get up again and again. I know we wonder why we even bother with moving ahead. Remember God is still God no matter what we see with our eyes and hear on the news. We have a future and a hope the Bible promises us, so we should look to the future. But as we do that, let’s look at Proverbs 16:9, “In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” We are not to plan for the future in despair, but rather to plan with the Lord’s purposes in mind. 1 Corinthians 9:24, “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!” Run to win it says! That means keep on running and don’t stop no matter what, and it also says YOU WIN when you keep running! Glory!

5. Live in anticipation!

God’s Promises help us get through the grind of day-to-day living. The best way to have peace is to read those promises on a daily basis. You’ll be surprised what God has for you in there. One of my favorites is Lamentations 3:22-23, “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” God’s faithfulness is always in play, and I thank Him for that. We can live in anticipation that His Word is true and it never fails. If He promised it to you it is yours now! God gave you peace and He promises to never leave you or forsake you. That is something to be thankful for! Live your life in anticipation of what He is going to do in you and for you! You are His child! He loves you!

Peace to deal with your present circumstance and to face your future does not have to be overwhelming-IF we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into the greatest peace of all- Jesus’ very own peace! John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

God said Go; But I Like it HERE!

How many times do we want to be used of God yet we are afraid to step out when He gives us certain instructions? He tells us to “go ye into all the world.” He even told Abram to get up and go. Go is a word which moves us to action. I’m even venturing to say the word “go” may also sound something like “remove,” “stop,” or “let go.” God commanded Abram “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1). Abram obeyed God for a promise of greater blessing. God tells us to “go” however, in order for us to go we must leave some places, people, and maybe even some things! God did not ask Abram to go, remove, and let go of his father’s family and what he currently had just to keep things from him. God had a better plan and better purpose for his life. Think of this: because of his obedience to God’s command the nation of Israel came from Abram AND Jesus Christ came through Abram’s family tree! Can you imagine that kind of call on your life! When given the command Abram had a choice between setting out for parts unknown or staying right where he was – where the comfort level was just fine! He was faced with a choice of security or uncertainty. All he really had to go on was God’s command and promise to bless him.

You and I my friend are faced with exactly the same thoughts and feelings Abram had! He was just as human as we are, with the same thoughts, fears, and emotions. Abram had no idea the effect his obedience would play on this earth – even today! YOU have no idea what God is asking you to do which will effect others  – even years down the road! We must realize that if we allow our comfort zone to lead us we will miss what God has for us – as well as for others! Remember God will never ask you to do something you can’t d0. You might not want to do it or even know how to do it; but if He asks you to do something or remove someone out of your life, or even go somewhere, He has already put in you the ability to do what He requests!

I know our comfort zone and fear keep us from doing what we are asked to do. Even when we are asked to let go of someone or something. This fear is our flesh rearing it’s ugly head. But remember God wants you to use what He has already given you. He created you – so just use what you have. Push through the fear and watch Him take over once you step out in faith. The woman in Luke 7:38 was memorialized by Jesus HIMSELF  in Mark 14:9! He said she would be remembered, why? Because she did an amazing feat? Because she lead millions to the Lord? Because she went into a foreign country and served? NO! Jesus said she would be remembered and discussed wherever the Good News is preached because  “She has done what she could…” ( verse 8 ). Your Heavenly Father is not asking you to do any more than you can. Will you have to face some fears and get out of your comfort zone – yes! Settle it in your heart that you will do what God asks you to do, no matter what your flesh, family, friends, or circumstances are telling you! I am sure Abram’s family had some opinions when he was going away. Can you hear them? “Where are you going Abram, what will you do?” To Abram’s reply, “I have no idea, God just said go!” Can you hear the family arguments there? I think a family meeting was called don’t you! What about the woman with the alabaster box? The disciples of Jesus; the very ones who should be encouraging others and helping them “do what they can” were criticizing her for what she was doing! (Mark 14: 4-5). Does this sound like some people of the church today? Someone is serving how they can and that’s not enough or the right way?

You have a plan and a purpose in which God wants to use YOU! He wants to ask YOU to do what you can for Him, so His work can get done. You do have a choice my friend on what to do. Abram had a choice and so did the woman with the precious oil. The question remains will you get uncomfortable and push past the fear and nay-sayers? Will you say “Yes Lord here I am!” He is not asking you to do anything that He has not already set up and equipped you to do. He will not let you slip, fall, or fail (Psalm 55:22). Why would He? He needs you! Are you willing to do what you can and allow Him to do the rest? Ask Him now what He desires of you and then rely on The Holy Spirit to help you do what you can!
