The Name of Jesus; Our Greatest Weapon

The Name of Jesus our Greatest Weapon - Sandra HerseyThe Name of Jesus is our greatest weapon against the enemy! There is no other name which can stand against darkness of any kind. There is nothing which can get a foothold in our lives that the Name of Jesus cannot stop. We must also remember God gets glory when we speak the Name of Jesus.

Ephesians 1:19-21 proves to us, And his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” Therefore, the Name of Jesus is above ALL names!

Acts 3: 1-8 “Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.” Verse 16 says, “And His Name through faith in His Name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”

You and I have been given, from Jesus the Power of Attorney to use Jesus’ name. However, I always believe we should seek out what the Word of God says concerning anything. Here is some of what Jesus said concerning His own Name:

“Where two or three are gathered together IN MY NAME, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew18:19-20); “These signs shall follow them that believe; IN MY NAME shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:15-20); “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And WHATSOEVER ye shall ask IN MY NAME, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing IN MY NAME, I will do it” (John 14:2-15); “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that WHATSOEVER ye shall ask of the Father IN MY NAME, he may give it you” (John 15:16); “WHATSOEVER ye shall ask the Father IN MY NAME, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing IN MY NAME: ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. . . .At that day ye shall ask IN MY NAME” (John 16: 23-26).

Notice Jesus said in John 15:16 that He has ordained us! You and I as believers of Christ have been ordained to go forth on His behalf and in His Name to take authority over the enemy and all his works. The word ordained means to invest officially (as by the laying on of hands) with ministerial or priestly authority. You have been given by Jesus priestly authority to declare His Name over your situation.

Satan knows the power of the Name of Jesus and he knows our authority to use The Name.  Satan knows he must flee when The Name of Jesus is spoken. Satan is betting on the fact that we are ignorant of our authority Jesus has given us. He will try to cause doubt to come to us about our authority. The Name of Jesus stands as the most powerful weapon in our arsenal. God’s intention for the born-again believer is for them to walk in the power of the almighty God just as Jesus did.

Jesus wants us to be a mighty army of believers who know who they are in Christ and know their authority in the Name of Jesus. We can reign in life over every circumstance, every problem, every sickness, over anything the enemy throws at us; just like Jesus did!

What is in a name?

Revelation knowledge is very exciting to me. Ephesians 5:20 is a scripture I know and have quoted so many times in my walk with the Lord. I bet you too can quote it …… “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” but here is the revelation.

I have always said “always” give thanks to God our Father, I have always said give thanks for “all” things. That in itself can be a lesson, We are to always give thanks. No matter what we give thanks. We are to give thanks in “all” things; the good, the bad, the ugly. Not giving thanks for the problem, but instead for the strength we are gaining. Or for what God is removing out of us in the situation, or what He is placing in us, in this situation. But that was not the revelation…..

This scripture specifically tells us “in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!” We are to declare out of our mouths and in our prayers, “Thank you Father for ————- in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!” Do you see that? Why? Why are we to be thanking our Father God in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ?

We seem to throw around “the name of Jesus” like a cliché sometimes. I am just as guilty! We are praying and we finish “in the Name of Jesus, Amen.” We have forgotten these are not just words! They are power house declarations! When we pray or declare in the Name of Jesus we are speaking by the authority of Jesus! We are not speaking in our own authority but because Jesus authorized us to take action in His name we have the right! (John 14:13  “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.“) When David battled against Goliath, he came to him “in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied” (1 Samuel 17:45). He did not go in his own power and authority but in the power which belonged to God! This authority gave David the ability to fight Goliath and be victorious.

When we come in someone else’s name we come in their stead. In other words the person to whom we go to is expected to react to us, not based on who we are, but as if the person who sent us was there himself. They are to treat us as they would treat the one who authorized us to come! Jesus authorizes us to come in His name, and the Father is obligated to treat us as He would His own Son, because we came in His stead. We are representing Jesus when we come to the Father by using Jesus name!  Romans 8:17 “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” We are joint heirs with Jesus Christ, we share the same inheritance!

When we open our mouths to thank our Father in Heaven for ALL things we are to use the authority given to us and thank God in the Name of Jesus!

Rise Up Out Of Your Situation!

sandra hersey. live life out loud. keys to victorious faith.

This past weekend has probably been one of the best Easter Seasons I have ever had. Taking the time to really think on what Jesus did, taking the time to think about how the mother of Jesus and the disciples who loved him must have felt as the watched them crucify Jesus. Then on the third day Jesus defeated death, hell, and the grave when He rose up and came knocking at the gates of hell to take the keys from Satan!

Rumor had spread while Jesus was alive to the religious leaders that Jesus had said he would indeed rise on the third day. Even though these leaders did not believe what Jesus had said, they were not so sure the followers or disciples of Jesus would not come and somehow steal Jesus body and then “say” he rose from the dead. With temple guards standing watch over the tomb and the official wax seal of Pilate sealing the stone door shut once and for all, they felt there would be no way for anyone to get in; but they did not ever think about Jesus rising up and getting out! Hallelujah!

The devil is not up to any new tactics, in fact he does not have anything new; all he ever does is just a repeat of what he has already done! He gives spiritual assignments to his cohorts to stand guard over you and your life; keeping away as many miracles and blessings he is allowed to. (Notice I said allowed here, we have power and authority over the enemy and All his plans!) The devil does not want you to think you can rise up out of your situation in victory. He does not want you to know you have been healed by the stripes Jesus took on his back, he does not want you to know Jesus took over poverty and lack. The devil wants you to think your situation is dead and at a loss. And he (if we allow him) puts his wax seal over our situation to keep us from having the victory that Jesus ALREADY died for! He wants to prevent your miracle, your provision, and your breakthrough!!!

When we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior we are made a new creation in Christ Jesus, we inherit the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we can use it in prayer against the enemy. The value of the authority rests on the power that is behind the authority; God Himself IS the power behind our authority! The devil and his forces are obliged to recognize our authority!!!

You have a right to stand against the enemy in Jesus Name, your situation cannot stand under the Name of Jesus, so allow Jesus to come into your tomb and bring you out! In Jesus name you can rise up out of your situation!
