What is God’s Will for Me?

What is God's will for me?What is God’s will for my life? It is a question I have asked myself and I am sure you have asked yourself the same. For me, if I am not careful it can become an obsession; the very weight of it and all the question marks can become overwhelming. But why? I guess because I, like you, want to make sure I am in His Will and my Father in Heaven is pleased with me. I do want to hear “Well done thy good and faithful servant” one day!

As I seek Him I have come to a new revelation which has helped set me free – God’s will is not a problem for ME to solve! Now before the lynch mob appears let’s look at the one place where all answers are found – The Bible.

The Word of God tells us plainly that His grace does not depend on our performance. We can do nothing to earn his grace; it is done for us. “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast” {Ephesians 2: 8-9}

And even though we tend to want to figure out exactly what God wants us to do in that moment, God’s Word says His faithfulness does not depend on what we know; our wisdom does not count here, it is His faithfulness that counts. “The LORD’S loving kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.” {Lamentations 3:22-24}

Our promise from God is that no matter how our life looks His steadfastness and goodness trumps whatever is going on! No matter what it looks like; His love for you and I endures FOREVER towards us!! {Rest in Psalm 136 for a moment}

We tend to get caught up in what is going on; and I know things get messy and get scary and get hard. Trust me I KNOW! Yet, His love towards you and I endures. And because His love endures and because His grace does not depend on our performance, and because His faithfulness to help us does not depend on what we know – we can rest in this: His will is not so much a path we are to walk on as it is a way of walking. How we walk with Him matters. So how are we to walk out our daily messy lives you ask? Simple; We are to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances. This is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus.” {1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18}

That’s it! We can rest assured that when we continue to pray and give thanks, even in the hard stuff, we are in His Will. Praying though a hard situation sounds something like, “God I trust you, I do not necessarily  understand, but I trust you. Help me to stand even when I feel I have stood  a long time. I love you Father and I simply trust you in this.”

Now you can rest in knowing you are in His Will. Continue to declare His goodness: even when it does not look too good on the outside. Remember, even diamonds got off to a rough start, then a ton of pressure had to be applied to make a beautiful stone. Pressure is not fun I know – but the reward is. And I know this; God rewards trust {Check out these scriptures on trusting God}. Now rest in knowing that as you trust Him you are in His will!

How To See The Silver Lining In Your Situation

How To See The Silver Lining In Your SituationWe all face tough situations in our lives. We all have a story of hurt or heartache of some sort. However, we must understand these hurts or heartaches are just experiences. There are experiences which are painful no doubt, and of course, we love the experiences which bring us pleasure. But think of it this way, no matter the experience, there are no “bad” experiences. I can challenge you to look harder for the good, but every experience you have can be a valuable teacher.

My challenge for you is to shift your perspective in whatever you are facing to recognize every experience as something of value. Each experience is an opportunity for growth for you. It is a lesson learned or even a chance to move you in a new direction. Look for the opportunity, look for the lesson. When you do this your whole outlook will change and you will see things happen in your life you did not expect. In essence, look for the silver lining and remember what you have gone through has made you uniquely qualified in that area to share your experience with someone who may be right where you were!

Much Success and Blessings today!

Facing Doubts

How to face doubts. Keys to victorious faith. Inspirational blogMany of Jesus’ followers were eye witnesses to the amazing miracles Jesus worked in His life here on the earth. They watched firsthand as Jesus turned water into wine, restored sight to the blind, healed infirmities and brought the dead back to life.

I think about Martha who had spent a lot of time with Jesus; He had been at her home on many occasions and yet she doubted that He could perform such a miracle when Jesus called Lazarus to rise from the dead and walk out of the tomb {John 11}! She allowed her grief and her five-sense realm to dictate to her what her belief should be. She knew in the natural that Lazarus had been dead too long; too long for even Jesus to do anything about – or so she thought. Yet even though Jesus knew she had doubts, Jesus called to Lazarus to come forth and right before Martha’s unbelieving eyes she watched Lazarus walked out of the tomb alive and well!

I believe most of us would probably doubt as well. Twitter would be full of tweets, blogs would be over run with accusations and news TV shows would continue to sow seeds of doubt and discord among the nations of the lies and tricks of this man named Jesus. We would have trouble believing that such a miracle could really happen. However, in the face of our doubts, no matter how strong or cynical, Jesus is still the miracle worker. He is still the one who today heals, frees and even raises those from the dead!

Do we trust He can do anything in our lives today? Do we trust He can and will provide our every need? Do we trust He can open blinded eyes in the natural and in the spirit realm? Do we trust He can and will do even the miraculous?

We cannot allow our doubts keep us from experiencing Jesus’ life changing power. We must trust Him and stand back and watch him work in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Only trust Him, only trust Him, only trust Him now!

Every Tomorrow Has Two Handles

Every Tomorrow Has Two Handles. Sandra Hersey. Keys to victorious faith Christian blog

“Every tomorrow has two handles. We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith.” ~ Henry Ward Beecher

I love this saying because we can create our future; we can have a future filled with anxiety or we can have faith to stand and believe our future is what we want it to be. Hebrews 11:1 so wonderfully proclaims to us, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (As a little freebie thrown in today notice that it says “now faith” – that means faith for right now! What do you need faith for right now?)
I want to help you write your future by looking into your future.

I want you to look closely at your goals you have set for this year. {If you have not set your goals for this year then stop now and do it!} I believe this year is going to be GREAT! I want you to BLAST into it, not have it take you by surprise, start now with what you want to happen this year! I want to help you live what’s most important every day you have left!

Your Goals
Look at your list carefully. Does your list of goals reflect opportunities for you to live your dreams? Think of it this way – on that sheet of paper is a small picture of your future.

Your future is a canvas that has yet to be drawn. Next year at this time, you will look at this list and as you cross off things you have accomplished it will be the history of your life… what happened… where you went… big and little accomplishments… failures… heartbreaks… disappointments… and even big successes.
The future will happen and day-by-day and sadly it will silently move into your past.

4 Key Questions:
Here are questions which are important in helping you create the future you want.

Have you written a list of the most important goals you want to experience in your life this year?

Have you written a personal mission statement for your life this year? A statement which promises how you will live what you value.

Have you written down your goals in clear detail with a date to each one?

Do you have at least one clearly defined goal for every major interest and role in your life? Example financial, health, relationships, etc

We are only a few weeks into the New Year. You may have not yet written down your goals and vision for this year or you may have done this but “fallen off the wagon” so to speak. No matter where you are on this day, start like it is January 1st all over again. It is not too late and if you have stumbled then get up and get going again. You can do this; your future can be what you create it to be.

I encourage you to start today, why not right now. You can never get these moments back so go forward.

Reading More and Dusting Less

Reading more and dusting less this year.

Well we have made it through the first week of a new year, how are you doing on your resolutions lol? No matter where you are on keeping your goals you set last week I do love those set in this little story. I read this a while back, though I am not sure really where it comes from. What I do know is that it is a great addition to the new year. Even if we do not do each thing, looking at what we can add to our lives will only make it richer.

“I’m reading more and dusting less. I’m sitting in the yard and admiring the view without fussing about the weeds in the garden. I’m spending more time with my family and friends and less time working. Whenever possible, life should be a pattern of experiences to savor, not to endure. I’m trying to recognize these moments now and cherish them.

I’m not ‘saving’ anything; we use our good china and crystal for every special event such as losing a pound, getting the sink unstopped, or the first Amaryllis blossom. I wear my good blazer to the market. My theory is if I look prosperous, I can shell out $28.49 for one small bag of groceries. I’m not saving my good perfume for special parties, but wearing it for clerks in the hardware store and tellers at the bank. ‘Someday’ and ‘one of these days’ are losing their grip on my vocabulary. If it’s worth seeing or hearing or doing, I want to see and hear and do it now.

I’m not sure what others would’ve done had they known they wouldn’t be here for the tomorrow that we all take for granted. I think they would have called family members and a few close friends. They might have called a few former friends to apologize and mend fences for past squabbles. I like to think they would have gone out for a Chinese dinner or for whatever their favorite food was. I’m guessing; I’ll never know.

It’s those little things left undone that would make me angry if I knew my hours were limited. Angry because I hadn’t written certain letters that I intended to write one of these days. Angry and sorry that I didn’t tell my husband and parents often enough how much I truly love them. I’m trying very hard not to put off, hold back, or save anything that would add laughter and luster to our lives.

And every morning when I open my eyes, I tell myself that it is special. Every day, every minute, every breath truly is a gift from God.”

New Year’s Resolutions We Need To Keep

New Years Resolutions We Need to Keep as Christians. Keys to victorious faith Inspirational BlogIt is that time again – time to put down the old, look ahead to the new, and make those New Year’s Resolutions. Everyone makes them but few keep them, at least that is how it seems to be. But as a Christian are we to make New Year’s Resolutions? I asked this question before, you can read it here. But today we are going to talk about New Year’s Resolutions we need to keep.

Paul in Philippians 3:13 gives us our first resolution. “…Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.”  Many times we are so focused on what is in our past. We focus on the should have, would have, could have. Now I know our past is important, for one thing, we learn from the past. But I want us to take a real good look at what we really are focusing on in our past. We need to let go of the hurt, pain and disappointment and move forward towards what God has for us. We cannot move on until we let go. It has been said, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize the situation is over, you cannot move forward. So start this year off letting go of the past. Take the lessons learned and refuse to keep focused on what you think or wish had taken place. Make this new year about what is ahead for you. Let go of the past and walk into the future.

Our next resolution comes from Enoch in Genesis 5:24 “Enoch walked with God..” Enoch was the first man to discover the delight of walking with God. He pressed into God and because of this he learned how to commune with God in every area of his life. This kind of relationship was worked on daily by Enoch and this daily walk will take some work from us as well. It is simple enough to spend time with God by reading our Bible and praying every day, however, I bet we all could admit we need more “daily” on this one. It is something which does take discipline and is a resolution we need to keep. Remember being a Christian is not a religion, a system or a belief, it is something which is active and growing, and only you can walk this out. It does take time and discipline, but why not start out by reading your Bible for 15 minutes and praying while on the drive in the car instead of listening to the radio. Make small changes and watch what happens. This year work on making a daily walk with God part of your new norm.

Our third resolution this New Year is following the advice of James in chapter 5 verse 19, “My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back.” Take this year and not only work on your resolutions to change your walk with Christ, but bring someone along with you. If you have a Bible study group, ask someone to come along. Ask them to go to church with you. Just ask. Now let me interject here, it is not our duty to give out the rules and regulations this new person needs to adhere to in order to walk with Jesus. Just invite them and allow the Holy Spirit to lead their day to day walk.

There you have it, a few simple New Year’s Resolutions we need to keep. Ones that may be small but will have a big impact in our life! You can make the changes you need. My prayer for you this year, May the Lord bless you and keep you! Happy New Year!
